Virginia Horse Center Has Events Every Weekend

April 2017

An all-breed, all-discipline facility, the Virginia Horse Center Foundation in Lexington, VA, offers a variety of opportunities for competitors and spectators every weekend. It also hosts an array of community events, farmers’ markets, concerts, training clinics, industry seminars, and the Rockbridge Regional Fair & Farm Show.

April begins with No Bull Barrels, a new barrel racing competition, March 31-April 2. The Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals, for middle and high school athletes from across the country, will be held for the first time at VHC, April 21-23.

The Lexington Spring Festival, showcasing top-class hunters and jumpers, will be held April 26-May 7, followed by the Bonnie Blue National for Saddle Horse breeds, May 10-14. The Virginia Horse Trials will bring the US Eventing Collegiate Championships to the Horse Center over Memorial Day weekend.

June 27-July 1, the VHC will host a USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Session, featuring Jim Wofford as the featured clinician and Colleen Reed as Stable Manager. Later in the season will be a clinic with Bucky Reynolds and Jack Towell. The Roanoke Valley Horse Show returns June 20-25 with excellent competition for the Saddle Horse breeds and social events for the entire community.

The Blue Ridge Arabian Classic, the Region 15 Arabian Championships and the East Arabian Championships will be held in June. Other events include American Vaulting Association Region IX Finals, the Lexington National Hunter/Jumper show, the NBHA Colonial Finals, the Virginia 4-H state show, Virginia Barrel Racing state finals and the Rockbridge Regional Fair and Farm Show.

Fall will bring the Virginia Dressage Association, the American Saddle Horse of Virginia show, the Fall edition of the Virginia Horse Trials and the Finals for both the Southwest Virginia Hunter/Jumper Association and the Virginia Horse Shows Association.
