Experience Summer Camp at Alfred University

January 2017

Alfred University is offering two five-day Equestrian riding camps this summer in the beautiful countryside of western New York State. Riders of all levels, aged 14-17 can experience warm days and cool nights in the peaceful surroundings of Alfred University while achieving personal riding goals.

During the week of July 9-14, 2017, the Alfred University English Riding Equestrian Camp will provide expert instruction in hunt seat riding based on the gifts and needs of the campers. New this year is a Western “Horsemanship” Riding Camp, July 23-21, 2017. Instruction will be provided by our excellent riding staff based on the needs and gifts of the campers. The spacious equestrian center with modern classrooms, viewing arenas, indoor and outdoor arenas and scenic riding paths are ideal settings to foster exceptional horsemanship. At week’s end, campers demonstrate the skills they’ve learned during a horse show. Campers can use Alfred University’s lesson horses or bring their own.

Campers spend most of their time at the Equestrian Center with the horses. When not in class or riding, campers enjoy fun recreational activities such as movies, games, trips to a local coffee ship, etc. Living, dining and learning together, campers have ample opportunity to get to know one another and develop lasting friendships. To ensure everyone has a safe, healthy and enjoyable time on campus, summer students are expected to abide by the University’s summer programs rules and regulations.

Campers stay in secure University residence halls dedicated to summer campers, two per room, and must bring their own pillows, blankets and bed and bath linens for the week. Laundry facilities are available in each hall at no charge. Males and females are housed in separate halls. Camp counselors will be on-site in the residence halls at all times.

Deadline for applications is May 1, 2017. For more information or to view the camp video, visit www.alfred.edu/summer/ and click on either the English or Western Equestrian Camp links.
